ESRM Group Inc. respects your privacy. We collect only the personal information we need to serve you — contact details, and, where you engage us for advice or an application, date of birth, financial and health information, beneficiary details, and identification required by law. We use it to assess your needs, recommend and place suitable insurance and estate planning solutions, service your policies, communicate with you, and meet our legal, regulatory, and anti-money-laundering obligations. We collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent except where legislation permits or requires otherwise; you may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual restrictions, though doing so may limit our ability to advise you or service existing coverage.
We share personal information only as needed for those purposes — with the insurers and financial institutions we apply to on your behalf, our managing general agency IDC Worldsource Insurance Network Inc., reinsurers and third-party administrators, service providers bound by confidentiality obligations, and where required by law or by regulators. We do not sell or rent personal information. We protect it with physical, organizational, and technical safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, retain it only as long as necessary or as required by law, and then securely destroy it. We make every effort to host our client files and documents on Canadian-based servers with providers that meet Canadian privacy standards; where a service provider processes information outside Canada, that information may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction, and our Privacy Officer may be able to answer questions about those arrangements.
Information you submit through esrm.ca is used only to respond to your inquiry. Email and web forms are not secure — please do not send health, financial, or identification details through them. You may request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask that inaccuracies be corrected by contacting our Privacy Officer, Trevor Johnston, at trevor@esrm.ca or 780-977-9210. We will respond within the time limits set by applicable privacy legislation. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (oipc.ab.ca) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
